Uşak produces 360 thousand tonnes of cotton thanks to recycling. Uşak Textile Employers Union Chairman Arif Öztan, emphasizing that Turkey has a 500 thousand tonnes of cotton production annually, said that they produce 360 thousand tonnes of cotton in around 150 factories from waste fabrics.
In the recycling sector in which 20 thousand people in the city are employed, 120 tonnes of plastic bottles and 900 tonnes of textile waste turn into fibre. In 150 factories, 360 thousand tonnes of cotton are produced. Sector representatives expect a special incentive from the state for ‘recycling’.
Uşak Textile Employers Union Chairman Öztan said that, “Our industrialists protect the environment by turning plastic bottles and fibre into cotton. In Europe, financial support is provided to companies like us. Why not give the same support to Uşak?”
