Employment For 20 Thousand People
Textile Employers Union Chairman Arif Öztan, saying that Turkey has left to be a cotton exporter country and became an importer country, stated that, “We, as Uşak, can make a cotton production of 360 thousand tonnes in 150 factories that make recycling. This is a very serious number if we take the cotton production of our country as a basis. If our state gives support to us, i.e. the companies who make recycling, this production capacity of ours can increase. Maybe even we can disengage ourselves from imported cotton.”

Öztan, indicating that the recycling sector provides employment to 150 factories and 20 thousand people, stated that, “We support our country’s textile sector in very serious numbers. This support of ours is substantial numbers. When we qualify the 360 thousand tonnes of cotton we produce as yarn, an added value of 1 billion dollars is provided for our country. When we think of this number turning into final products we call display material, i.e. sweaters, shirts, trousers, we are in a position of providing an added value of 5-7 billion dollars.”
